I realize that there are a few things missing in dfbfreerdp.

But, is it possible to use a ZWERTY keyboard with dfbfreerdp?

I didn't see any option related to keyboard layout so is QWERTY keyboard
the only choice?

Hi Gerry,
the keyboard is defined by the -k option.
i.e. "xfreerdp -k 0xB0000407" runs xfreerdp using a german neo 2 layout.
A list of all possible layouts is available using "xfreerdp --kbd-list".

I guess that ZWERTY is a french layout so you could try "xfreerdp -k 0x0000040C"

Nils

Nope, a french layout would be AZERTY ! :)

Hi Nils,

Sorry:
I mentioned this wasn't a French layout because I'm using one all the time,
but I wasn't the originator of the question! :)

In fact, I've never seen or heard of a ZWERTY layout before, and I couldn't
find one by googling around.

reversed on the keyboard, thus the first six letters are ZWERTY."

Hmm, odd example. In Germany it's not q and z, but y and z. So the
normal German layout reads QWERTZ

And to make things worse: I answered that changing the layout is
possible using xfreerdp. The question was esp. asked for dfbfreerdp.
I'd better keep my hands off the keyboard for today..

This question about ZWERTY came from my client. I don't have the
keyboard here.

But when I did a grep for keyboard_layout under dfb/ it didn't look like
it was using any keyboard_layout stuff.

And when I checked the help it shows options for keyboard layout but
when I checked the code where the available command line arguments are
parsed I didn't see any options related to keyboard for dfbfreerdp.

So is it not possible to use other keyboards with dfbfreerdp?

Sure, and I saw the same message you report when I googled around.
The problem is that double checking by googling for "German keyboard layout"
and looking at all it returned (starting by tens of keyboard map images)
invalidated this.
All the German keyboard layouts I've found seem to be strictly based on
QWERTY.

And as far as I can tell, querying for ZWERTY doesn't return any scheme or
seriously referenced mention of any ZWERTY layout, just a few messages
mentioning that ZWERTY string.

So I suspect that the ZWERTY keyboard is either
1) a typo
2) a urban legendor
3) a really well kept secret.

Let's hope the originator of the question comes back and and satisfy
our *insatiable
curiosity.* :)
